Main St. Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. 38 miles Northwest of Bangor Critical Access Hospital Beds: 25 General Information: Number of ORs: 3 OR suites, 1 GI Endoscopy room Minimum Years of Experience? RN and CST: 2 years of OR experience. Will consider 1 year if experienced with all specialties offered at Mayo (see below) Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, if experienced with above Case Types: General: gallbladders, appendectomies, colectomies, hernia repairs (laparoscopic and open) Ortho: total joints (hips, knees, shoulders), sports medicine Podiatry: toe amputation, bunionectomies, hammer toes GYN: hysterectomies (mostly laparoscopic), tubals, hysteroscopies, DNCs OB: C-sections (OR RNs will circulate, not LDRP RNs) Endoscopic: colonoscopies, EGDs, bronchs. CST process the scopes Urology: TURPs, cystos, lithotripsies, circumcisions No robotics, high level traumas, neuro, etc. Cases performed per day (average): Approximately 8-10 Required Licensure and Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS CST: BLS, CST Skills required: RN: Experience circulating above case types Do not need Pre-op/PACU experience but MUST be comfortable learning these areas here and taking on some duties. On callback, RNs will circulate case and recover patient after the case. Will also learn how to perform pre-op interviews to assist there if needed Must be comfortable monitoring patient on cardiac monitor and interpreting cardiac rhythms as will be monitoring post-case on callback CST: comfortable scrubbing cases above Support on the Unit: Supervisor CRNAs (3), no anesthesiologist Charge RN RT No transporter RNs will transport patients No housekeeping travelers will help turn over and clean rooms Technology/Equipment: EMR: Cerner Highly prefer RNs have Cerner experience. If no experience, MUST be comfortable with EMRs and picking up quickly on them. Please include how much Cerner experience RN has and the last time used. IV Pumps: Alaris Med Dispensing: Pyxis Floating: None Orientation: 4 shifts of orientation in the department Option is available to do buddy call during orientation but will be expected to take call independently the 2nd week here Scheduling: Call requirement: 4-8 call shifts per month (1630-0700 the following day) 1 weekend of call per month (Friday 0700 Monday 0700) 20-minute response time Guest House available for call team only if normal housing is >20 minutes away If called in the night before, will try to let call team off early the following work day if possible Weekend rotation: call only, see above Holiday Expectations: call only for major holidays. Staff cover most holidays, but could be on call for 1 summer/1 winter holiday Shift: Monday Thursday, 0700-1630.
